Thomas Cook Flights Emergency Landing

| 16/08/2010

A plane with 330 passengers on board was forced to land at Gatwick Airport after smoke was seen coming from the galley. An oven is believed to have been the cause of the smoke on the Thomas Cook flight TCX975K which made an emergency landing at Gatwick at about 8.40am yesterday.

The Boeing 767 had taken off from Manchester Airport and was on its way to Turkey. A West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service crew was called as a precaution but was not needed.

A Gatwick Airport spokesman said: “The aircraft came into the Gatwick on priority and we took the passengers off. “They were not at all disturbed by the incident and they were looked after and communicated to well.”

A Thomas Cook spokesman said the aircraft was given the all clear a short while later and passengers were allowed to re-board just before midday.
