Regarding to one of the most popular online news site in Altinkum Didim Today reported that Minister of National Education has announced that Turkey will create 40.000 English language teachers to teach in Turkish schools this is a bid to improve English language all over Turkey and improve quality of education system in Turkey. This means there will be a lot of jobs created for British, US and Canadian nationals and they will be able to get government jobs in Turkey.

The Minister of national education wants teachers to be from UK, Canada, Australia and America mainly and all applicants to be foreign nationals, this is due to a 4 year plan to extend and improve the English language quality in schools all over Turkey.

If you are an expat and/or living in Turkey this could be a great opportunity to get a good job in Turkey with a good salary, this will also create fantastic opportunities for British people etc that don’t speak Turkish and/or struggling to find a full time job according to Minister of National Education.

However according to the national media reports this project will start with first 10.000 teachers in the first year and will go on through the following years.

Many retired teacher’s groups have spoken out and started to protest about jobs been giving to foreigners and they have already sent a petition to the Ministers of National Education office and many have suggested that this will not only kill the culture but change the way the kids learn in Turkish schools.

Group also raised concerns around the salary gap as they will get a different salary compare to Turkish teachers, along with the numbers of jobless people already in turkey.

Although these concerns have been raised the Minister of national education wants to continue to run this project for the next 4 years all over turkey to see the results and outcome of this change in education and expects that there will certainly be an improvement in the English language within the Turkish schools and feels that the children will learn better English.

Also this is seen as a good move forward it is also one of the biggest steps to take before joining EU. The Minister reported clearly that Turkish teachers will not be affected by the change in foreign teachers and that they will all have equal salaries and those who already teach English will not be affected within their roles in schools.
