British love affair with holidays Spain ending?
The British have had a notorious love affair with holidaying on the Spanish Costa since the seventies. And as more and more flocked, the diversity of holidays available expanded. Spain now offers high end luxury holidays, other end of the scale bargain breaks and pretty much everything in between. But is the British love affair with holidays Spain ending?75ZYHC3Z65TD
Well, if a survey of tourists by holidays firm, sunshine.co.uk is anything to go by, then it seems it is. The survey results reveals that the British are indeed ‘going off’ holidays on the Spanish Costa, but the reasoning may come as a surprise.
Those surveyed didn’t complain about Spain itself, or indeed the Spanish, but cited their reason for preferring other destinations to Spain is the Brits!
It seems that many now believe Spain has “too many English bars,” and is no longer, “foreign enough.” So the British tourist invasion, it seems, is now alienating the British themselves. Well this is the truth but dont know if anyone going to accept it.
Both Spain and the Canary Islands are amongst the five destinations amongst which there has been the slowest growth rate in bookings. The USA, on the other hand has experienced a 48% growth in bookings amongst British tourists.
Spain, despite the slowdown in holiday booking growth, remains one of the UK’s most popular holiday destinations and this looks unlikely to change in the near future. Whether the British, in their bid to find more “foreign” holiday destinations do eventually have an impact on the tourism figures for Spain in the long term remains to be seen.
However top five destinations is Turkey, Egypt, USA, and Greece, Portugal this year.75ZYHC3Z65TD
